Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?

A: It was a little bit of a detour for me. For almost 20 years I sat behind a desk and on weekends would fix things and build things. I got tired of sitting behind a desk and wanted to do something that I enjoy. I stumbled across the opportunity to start fixing things for other people and discovered that there is a market for that.

I grew up with a dad who never hired a single person to fix a single thing at our house. If it broke – you fixed it and if you wanted something – you made it (in a lot of cases). That was the mentality of our family, so I kind of absorbed that. It’s not the way everybody thinks. I came to find out that there are a lot of people that either don’t know how to fix things or they want something they can’t find in the store but don’t know how to make it. Or they just don’t have time. A lot of busy people just don’t have time to do things like that.

There are many situations or applications where you can’t find something that fits. Our bathroom is an example where the wall depth is too narrow for a store-bought counter top or vanity, so I made a custom one to fit that space. Other things in my house that I’ve made: TV stand, mantel over fireplace, island in the kitchen (with my Dad), pantry cabinet in the kitchen, some bedroom furniture including kids’ desks & chair, headboard, put up walls and closets in basement, front railing, and more.

I like talking with people to find out what their problem is and coming up with a solution to solve that problem.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Greendale, and what do you love there?

A: Ricardo’s. All their pizza is good. I like their BBQ chicken pizza.

Q: How long have you lived in Greendale?

A: Almost 8 years.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?  And why?

A: I really want to go to Iceland. It’s gorgeous. I want to see the northern lights and that is a great place to see them. It has ocean currents all around it, so it’s not as cold as people think it is. It has a glacier on it so you can hike on a glacier and tour ice caves. Beautiful topography.

Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theatre?

A: The first movie that I remember seeing in a movie theater was ET. For a long time that was my favorite movie. I also like Back to the Future and The Usual Suspects. I like movies with a twist at the end that you didn’t quite see coming.

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?

A: Be kind to each other.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

A: Working on seeing baseball games at all the major-league ballparks. I have a lot of those checked off. I don’t really have it formalized, but I would also like to visit all the National Parks. Most of the things that I want to do involve travel.

Q: What is your favorite music/ 3 bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?

A: I always wanted to see Tom Petty. I’ve seen Zac Brown Band and that was a great show, so I’d like to see them again. One of my other favorite bands to see in concert is O.A.R. Garth Brooks is always a good show, too.

Q: What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Greendale?

A: I hear that there used to be a hardware store in Greendale. That would make me nostalgic. I’d love to see a hardware store down in the Village!

Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch?  Why?  Where in Greendale would you have lunch?

A: My wife. We get such little time together. We could get a BBQ chicken pizza from Ricardo’s and go sit at the Gazebo and have a picnic.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Greendale?

A: I have found that I see people that I know when I am in Greendale. I bump into people that I know and chat a little bit. It’s friendly. The other thing that I really like is its walkability and bike-ability. If we want to go to the library, we can ride our bikes. The kids can ride their bikes to summer school.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

A: I can name all 50 states in alphabetical order in less than a minute.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

A: Love, comfort and family.

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?

A: I really like Nick Offerman from Parks and Recreation. He is a comedian, actor and written a couple books. He has a dry sense of humor. Aziz Ansari would also be fun. He coincidentally was also on Parks and Rec. Tina Fey would also be fun to work with.

Q: If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose? Chef, Housekeeper, Driver, Coach, Physical Fitness Trainer, or Nanny?

A: Housekeeper would be good to free up some time. I hope that also includes grocery shopping.
