Cindy Nettles has a true heart for service, always ready to jump in and lend a helping hand wherever it’s needed. Whether she’s organizing events with the Public Celebration Committee, supporting the Greendale Entertainment Association, or caring for a neighbor’s dogs while they’re away, Cindy’s kindness and dedication shines through. A lifelong lover of community involvement, she finds joy in giving back—whether it’s through Village Days, the Garden Walk, or helping out with local organizations. When she’s not volunteering, you can find her enjoying Greendale’s walking paths with her dog, Agnes, or spending time with her family.
Thank you, Cindy, for your unwavering dedication, kindness, and countless contributions that make Greendale a better place for everyone!

I graduated from Greendale High School in 1976, married a Greendale original shortly after graduation, and moved to Oak Creek to raise our two amazing sons. Moving back to Greendale made sense as our parents aged and our kids grew up. I take advantage of all the walking paths with my dog, Agnes, and love the close-knit community of Greendale. I began volunteering when my oldest grandson was in Twi-Nite Baseball. The events are always so much fun. I enjoy them all and also enjoy being within walking distance from my Honeymooner Original.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My late husband and I have two sons. Craig lives in Greendale with my 13 year old grandson, Cameron, and Jennifer. Trevor lives in Glendale with my 2-year-old grandson, Ferris, and my daughter-in-law Whitney.
Q: Please tell us about your current career. What do you love most about what you do?
I retired from Bucyrus Erie in South Milwaukee after a long and successful career spanning 43 years and now have plenty of time to volunteer!
Q: Please tell us about any volunteering that you have done or currently do.
I volunteer often. I’m the Secretary of the Public Celebration Committee as well as a member of the Greendale Historical Society, Greendale Entertainment Association, and the American Legion. I also help out with the Greendale Lions, Lucky Mutts Rescue, the Bucyrus Museum, and The Ridge Community Church. I love giving back to all these worthwhile organizations. Pet Palooza, Village Days, Greendale Garden Walk, and 4th of July are among my favorite events to help out with.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in Greendale? What do you love there?

I have lived in Greendale for a total of 24 years, both in the 1970s and currently.

Do what you love and stay active!

Right where I am, doing what I love to do!

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
I love October. My neighbors and I really do it up nicely decorating our yards for trick or treating. We give candy out to hundreds of kids and couldn’t enjoy it more. I also cherish Christmas with my family.
