Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I am the oldest of three children. Both of my grandparents on my mom’s side moved to Greendale in 1938 and resided in the ‘B’ and ‘C’ sections. When they married, they raised their children in the house I now currently own with my husband on Schoolway. Although my husband grew up in northern Wisconsin and misses it, he has embraced the community of Greendale as well. I graduated from Greendale High School and both of my daughters attended GHS, one graduating last year, and the other being a junior this year.

Q: Please tell us about your current career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am the practice manager at Greendale Village Vet which means I do a little of everything from accounting, to HR, to social media management. I most enjoy working with and supporting our phenomenal staff and helping the business run on a daily basis. I love working with a team of people so passionate about animals and serving people. I love to be a part of a local business in a small community. It’s so fun to be out and about and run into the familiar faces of our clients and patients.

Q: Please tell us about any volunteering that you have done or currently do.
I sometimes volunteer at a food pantry associated with Ebenezer Lutheran on the south side through my church, Hales Corners Lutheran. My family and I enjoy making breakfast and serving it to the community on some Saturday mornings.

Q: Please tell us about any interesting or unique hobbies that you have?
I started baking French Macarons a few years ago as a hobby and to challenge myself, and it has turned into a bit of a side hustle. I have always enjoyed baking, so when I was diagnosed with celiac disease a few years ago, I wanted to find a dessert I could enjoy that was also gluten free. Macarons are a challenge, but over the past couple of years I’ve honed my technique and enjoy producing these pretty little tasty gems out of my home.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in Greendale? What do you love there?
I’ve been a lifelong fan of Ricardo’s and am so thrilled that they make a delicious gluten free pizza so I can still enjoy going there. I love Broad Street Coffee (dirty pumpkin chai is my go-to there). Panther Pub is a solid choice (great salads and burgers). Milk Can and Dia y Noche have been fantastic additions! And who doesn’t love Vintage 38?

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Greendale?
I’ve lived in Greendale for the most part since I was 3 years old. I’ve moved away a couple of times for various reasons, but I’ve always returned. I graduated from GHS and after a year in Florida for college, I returned and started working at Veterinary Medical Associates where I stayed full time for about 14 years. I left in 2011 to work at the Cancer Center at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin for about 10 years. In December of 2021, I rejoined the veterinary hospital, now Greendale Village Vet.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I very much want to travel to Italy and visit the area from which my father and his family emigrated.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I love the movie Black Panther and I am a big Breaking Bad fan.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Try not to get too caught up in the small stuff. Having worked in the cancer field for 10 years, and also having had cancer myself, I realized that life can change in an instant.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Traveling to Iceland and Costa Rica

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
My go-to music is always the Hamilton soundtrack. I never get sick of it and it still gives me goosebumps no matter how much I listen to it.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Greendale?
I would have to say Drew’s or Viele’s. Although I also fondly remember going to Dobner’s and getting a pretzel rod on occasion.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Greendale?
I absolutely love all the walking paths. It reminds me of being a kid walking to and from my friends’ houses. Village Days is another favorite.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself still in Greendale but likely spending more time traveling, especially during the winter.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I was a music major years ago. I played the cello, and I really wanted to be a singer and even tried out for American Idol.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Abaco Islands in the Bahamas. It was not a touristy area, so the beauty was so natural.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
I love June because it’s the beginning of summer, but I do also love Fall. I can’t pick a single favorite holiday as they all come with their own special traditions that I look forward to.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My daughters and husband. I try to be the best I can for them. My work team also inspires me.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Coffee brewing, and sap steam from when my in-law family is cooking down sap to make maple syrup.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Family, Cozy, Pets
