Chase Folker

Chase, please tell us about your current plans after high school. What inspired you to choose this path?

I am directly admitted into the Business school at UW-Madison and I plan on majoring in Actuarial Sciences, considering a minor in Spanish as well. I already knew that I wanted to do something in the business field that included a lot of math, but I really zoned in on Actuarial Sciences when I went on a field trip with my AP Stats teacher Mr. Dederich.

Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My brother is currently enrolled at UW-Madison and is going to major in Biology. My dad has been working in Greendale for 20 years. He worked at Canterbury for 6 years, and then has now been working in the Middle School for 14 years. My mom works closer to my house in Caledonia as a Learning Support Coordinator at St. Rita’s Elementary/Middle School.

What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in Greendale?

Chick-Fil-A, Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Kopp’s, and Applebee’s

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

I would want to travel to Europe; Italy and France to be more specific. These are considered some of the most cultured locations in the world, and I would love to experience the food and nightlife there.

What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

One of my favorite movies is Forrest Gump, because I never get bored watching it. My favorite TV show is easily “The Office”, but I also enjoy Parks and Rec, 13 Reasons Why, and Friends.

What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

My go to band when I can’t decide what to listen to is Maroon 5 or Queen.

If you could choose anyone that is alive today, and not a relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where in Greendale would you meet for lunch?

I would choose to have lunch with Elon Musk because he is one of the most intellectual people alive right now, and has a clear vision for the future and I would love to discuss things with him, especially about self-driving cars and his opinions on Space Travel. We would meet at Kopp’s and chow down on their burgers and shakes.

What is your favorite thing or something unique about Greendale?

My favorite thing about Greendale is the parent involvement with extracurricular activities. It’s nearly impossible to attend a sports event, band competition, etc. without seeing multiple parent volunteers there.

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

I see myself with a degree from UW-Madison and hopefully having passed multiple Actuarial Exams. I also hope to have started a mortgage on a house and be married in the next 10 years.

What show are you binge watching right now?

I’m not currently binge watching any show, but I am binge watching the Marvel movies in order. Right now, I have watched 10 of the 22.

Favorite month? Holiday? And best single day on the calendar?

My favorite month is July. My favorite holiday is definitely Christmas and the best single day on the calendar is the first day of summer.

Who inspires you to be better?

My parents as well as my brother inspire me to be better, as they are consistently pushing me to achieve in all that I do.

If you could go back over your entire school career what is the one thing you would do different?

I would try out for the baseball team my freshman year. I played baseball in rec leagues from age 6-14 but never chose to try out for the baseball team, and I wish I would have.

Who or what do you miss the most right now?

I miss my friends, especially the ones that I know I won’t be able to see for quite a while because they are either still going to be at the high school, or they’re going to a different college.

What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

The first thing, 3 of my best friends and I are going to do is we are going out to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner all in one day and we’re going to play basketball and play video games together. It should be a very fun day.
