Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I married my high school sweetheart, David Kraemer. We have two wonderful sons, Alex and Josh, who are both engineers.
Q: Please tell us about your current career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am a real estate appraiser and have been in the business for nineteen years. What I love most about what I do is the variety. I meet interesting people and homes can range from 600 square feet to 6,000 square feet and anywhere in between. I love the flexibility of being able to work from home.
Q: Please tell us about any volunteering that you have done or currently do.
I have been a Planning Commissioner since 2014, and a member of the Public Celebrations Committee since 2019 when I became Co-Chair of the Greendale Fourth of July parade with my partner in crime, Rachel Geittmann. We both love tracking down new and interesting things for the parade. I volunteer for the Greendale Garden Gazers. People may also have seen me at village events tapping their beer, serving their mulled wine or as a Leprechaun reading kids books at the library for the Clover Crawl event.
I was also the co-founder of the first Concerned Citizens of Greendale and stopped the three story apartments from being built behind the shops on Parking Street. In three very short weeks, we reached out on foot to every single household in Greendale, had a listening session and the project was ended. It would have been built on top of a parking structure so the apartments would have changed the skyline in the historic village.
Q: Please tell us about any interesting or unique hobbies that you have?
I love to garden, go on hikes, play cards with my mom and travel when we get the chance. I make art with pressed flowers, have extensively cross stitched and even made a cross-stitch pattern for the Greendale Village Hall. My next big project is trying to make a near-perfect replica of my Greendale Original house back in 1938 in 1/12 scale.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in Greendale? What do you love there?
We enjoy eating out on the patio at the Panther Pub, the salads are great. We also really enjoy the Steakout for their steak and seafood.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Greendale?
I was born in Greendale and have lived in an original my entire life. My grandparents moved here in 1938 and I am a third generation Greendale Original homeowner which we have put our hearts and souls into.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Greendale?
That is a tough one; there are so many interesting people here. I don’t think I can just nail it down to one person. My mom remembers so many stories about the old days that she is fascinating to talk to. When we first moved into our home Doc Seiler, the original milkman, would love to sit on the porch or in the backyard and tell stories of old Greendale. I have so many family members, people I volunteer with and people I love who live here that I don’t think it’s fair to just pick one.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
That would be a tossup between Italy and England. We had to postpone our planned trip due to Covid, I love the old architecture.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I love watching Science Fiction, and will truly miss This is Us.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Be kind. If you’re having a hard time, try giving back to others. It will get you out of your head and give you a good feeling in your heart.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Going out West to some place with no light pollution at a time of year when we can see the Milky Way in all of its glory.
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I fall back on country music; doesn’t really matter what kind.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Greendale?
I miss Drew’s. It was a great variety store and I remember riding the pony for a nickel while my mom would shop.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?
Queen Elizabeth. I have been wrapped up in her jubilee and think she would have absolutely fascinating stories. We would have to go to Joey’s.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Greendale?
Greendale is home. I love being able to walk right to the village. It really is a beautiful place to live.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Still here, of course, retired with more time to spend on gardening and volunteering and hopefully with grandchildren.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I was actually on the Dr. Phil Show once. It was a fluff piece because I emailed in and told him that his relationship with his wife on TV was too perfect. It was a fun trip to LA, all expenses paid. I actually had to prove to my husband’s coworkers at the time with the emails from the show because they couldn’t believe we would get on for such an easy thing!
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Maui, breathtaking.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
My favorite times of year our spring and fall, Christmas is probably my favorite holiday, and the best day of the year is May 3rd, my anniversary date and my husband’s birthday. We have been married for thirty-six years.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Sleep, when I can get it, definitely sleep
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My mom. She always sees the best in life, even with difficulties. She always has a sunny attitude.
Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Coffee and fresh mowed grass.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Love, family, Greendale.
