Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My wife, Darcy, and I currently have two little girls who are not yet in school. We enjoy spending time in charming downtown Greendale, playing at Daffodil Park, meeting up with friends at the library and attending local farmers markets and festivals.
Q: Please tell us about your current career. What do you love most about what you do?
I have my dream job. I experienced chiropractic care for myself throughout sports in grade school and witnessed my father avoid invasive back surgery due to conservative chiropractic care. I knew that if I could offer that care to someone else my life would be full of meaning and purpose. Owning a family practice in Greendale has been such a blessing. What I love most is partnering with people to reach their health goals and observing them improve their quality of life. Getting to know my patients and their families is also a joy that led me to pursue becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic.
Q: Please tell us about any volunteering that you have done or currently do.
My wife and I volunteer at local events like Greendale Village days, Greendale Resales and several events and leadership roles at our church.
Q: Please tell us about any interesting or unique hobbies that you have?
I absolutely love board games and card games of all sorts; so much so that our clinic hosts a board game night every few months that is open to the public. I dabble with music and play a little mandolin, love being in nature walking on trails, camping, hunting and fishing, and thoroughly enjoy playing pickleball whenever I get the chance.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in Greendale? What do you love there?
We have yet to try all of the wonderful options here in Greendale, but so far my family loves grabbing breakfast burritos at Dia y Noche, smoothies and chai tea at Broad Street Coffee, and my wife and I can’t wait to try The Eleanor Room for date nights this summer!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Greendale?
We started Greendale Chiropractic on June 26th 2023.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Greendale?
This is so hard. There are so many interesting people I have had the pleasure to meet. Some individuals that come to mind are Bobbi Reiman, Anne Marie Pierce, Dave Bruno and Jason Cyborowski. It is evident to me that these individuals care deeply about our community and work towards leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come. Something that I aspire to do with our own family business.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
This one is easy. Western China. My wife and I had the opportunity to live in Western China for a year following our college graduation and before I started Palmer College of Chiropractic. We had a wonderful experience immersing ourselves in the community there and we would love to go back to our favorite small family restaurants and shops.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Goodwill Hunting is one of my all time favorite movies.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Don’t ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Start a chiropractic clinic in Western China.
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Trampled by Turtles (bluegrass band from Duluth MN)
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Greendale?
Before we started our clinic in Greendale we came downtown in the summer for the local farmers market. We parked on Parking Street and walked past the welcoming music of Galleria Greendale, and perused their art before heading over to Broad Street Coffee for a drink. These two wonderful businesses were my first taste of Greendale and they will continue to bring back that original nostalgia.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?
Brett McKay, the host of my favorite podcast, The Art of Manliness. He is well read, philosophical and someone I feel like I could have a great conversation with. We would probably grab drinks at Vintage 38.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Greendale?
I thoroughly enjoy the flowers that cascade downtown Greendale in the spring and summer. Downtown Greendale already has a lot of charm, but the flowers truly elevate the experience for me. My family and I were also drawn to the rich history here, and love all the festivals!
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
5632 Parking Street. I plan to continue to support the Greendale community by sponsoring health events, musicals, education and festivities throughout the village.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
My first ever job was working at an organic dairy as a cheese maker’s apprentice when I was 15.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Kashgar, China.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
June. Christmas. September 13th (when I make pumpkin pie every year for my wife’s birthday!)
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Bluemel’s, pickleball & Palmer College of Chiropractic.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
Mark Weigt (pastor), Patrick McGlinn(father-in-law), Mark Sromek(father)
Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
My grandma Sromek always wore a potent perfume, which when I was younger often felt overbearing. Now I treasure that smell embedded in several quilts of hers that were gifted to me. Also the smell of lilac bushes reminds me of my childhood home.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Love, belonging, joy.
