Judy Fons and her husband raised their 6 children in Greendale. Their family has since grown to 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren! Throughout Judy’s 58 years in Greendale, she has made many valuable contributions to the community.
Currently, Judy volunteers as a Reading Buddy at Canterbury Elementary School. In the past, she coached girls softball (part of Twi-Nite), worked with safe houses for kids (Patch the Pony) and was an active member of various committees including, but not limited to, the Celebrations Committee, Park & Rec Committee and Friends of Music. Many may also remember that Judy served on the Greendale School Board (4/00-4/09) and was President during one of her terms.
Judy’s years of volunteering will continue to have a lasting impact on our Greendale community. An example of this is the Kid Boosters (KB) program that she, along with two others, began within the Greendale Education Foundation. The KB program helps children and families who find themselves in need of extra help. Judy was also instrumental in the building of Jaycee Park.
On a professional level, Judy used to run the ice cream store “Village Cone Shop”, was a legal secretary for her husband for a while and even a tennis coach, but her passion was working with children as a high school teacher.
As a retiree, Judy has been enjoying biking, walking and reading.
Thank you, Judy, for your many generous contributions to the Greendale community!
