Petar Vorkapich

Petar, Please tell us about your current plans after high school. And what inspired you to choose this path?

I want to go into engineering at a college (still deciding) because I enjoy math and physics and feel like problem solving and helping people is what I’m good at, so I chose engineering.

Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I have 3 sisters two of which attended Greendale and one who will after I graduate. My mom is from Illinois and my dad is from Canada. We are Serbian and extremely connected to both our faith and culture.

What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in Greendale?

Ferch’s, Explorium, Ricardo’s.

Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Greendale?

Everybody is really interesting to me, but probably the Italian exchange student because he grew up with a totally different life than from what I experienced.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

The Bahamas or an island with a beach and a beautiful view (I’d go with my friends and family) because I’d like to relax and experience different culture.

What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

I don’t have a favorite movie, but Parasite is really good. My favorite show is either Shameless or Narcos.

What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

I don’t really remember what exactly he said but it was to focus and work hard (talking about the AP Exam) and I feel like those two things in school are most important. Mr. V told me (Brian Verfuerth).

What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

Pearl Jam or Bob Marley and the Wailers.

If you could choose anyone that is alive today, and not a relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where in Greendale would you meet for lunch?

I would have lunch with Julius Caesar because I want to know how he built an empire and what life was like then. I would take him to Ferch’s because I think he’d want a burger and some custard.

What is your favorite thing or something unique about our Greendale?

I like how it seems as if it’s its own little world and there’s a lot of cool spots to walk around or explore.

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Hopefully graduated from college or pursuing a dream in school or outside of it, working hard and maybe on my way to starting a family.

What show are you binge watching right now?

Narcos

Favorite month? Holiday? And best single day on the calendar?

July, Christmas, the day quarantine ends.

Who inspires you to be better?

My old coach on my soccer team even though he could be harsh at times, he motivated me to become a better player.

If you could go back over your entire school career what is the one thing you would do different?

I would spend more time at school and try to make more friends.

Who or what do you miss the most right now?

I miss hanging out with my friends, late at night, around a bonfire or talking with them and having a good time.

What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

Everything.
