Lauren Koss

Lauren, please tell us about your current plans after high school. What inspired you to choose this path?

I will be attending University of Wisconsin- La Crosse next year and I plan on majoring in Biology. After I get my degree, I plan on going to a PA program in hopes of becoming a pediatric PA. I was inspired to choose this path by my desire to help people. I always thought I wanted nothing to do with kids because that is what drew me away from wanting to be a teacher, but it wasn’t until this year that I realized I couldn’t picture myself being a PA in any other specialty besides pediatrics.

Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I have a younger brother who will be a freshman at Greendale High School next year. I live with both of my parents and they’re both teachers in MPS. My mom is a K4 teacher and my dad is a gym teacher. We love to travel together to Disney World and Colorado and love being active with each other.

What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in Greendale?

Chick-fil-A, Panther Pub, Ricardo’s

Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Greendale?

My 7th grade English teacher, Mr. Weishaar.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

Disney World because my family was supposed to go during spring break for my “senior trip” but obviously Disney World was closed and we weren’t able to go.

What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

Favorite Movie: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before or any Disney movie Favorite

TV Shows: Grey’s Anatomy or Outer Banks

What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

“Put 100% into anything you do.” My middle school gym teacher and high school softball coach, Mrs. Dominguez.

What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

Dan and Shay

If you could choose anyone that is alive today, and not a relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where in Greendale would you meet for lunch?

Christian Yelich. I love watching the Brewers and he is currently my celebrity crush. I think it would be cool to take him to an area of Wisconsin he probably hasn’t gone to. We would have lunch at Panther Pub so we could watch a baseball game and then go to the softball and baseball field at the high school to play catch with each other.

What is your favorite thing or something unique about Greendale?

It’s such a tight-knit community and I love how connected everyone is to each other. It’s so cool to see members of the community come out to different high school sporting events, especially football games, even if they don’t have any kids at the high school.

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

I see myself working at Children’s Hospital as a pediatric PA in either the emergency department or the oncology department.

What show are you binge watching right now?

I just finished watching Outer Banks and I loved it. I would highly recommend it.

Favorite month? Holiday? And best single day on the calendar?

Month: July

Holiday: Christmas

Single day: March 1st, my birthday

Who inspires you to be better?

My family and my softball coach during high school

If you could go back over your entire school career what is the one thing you would do different?

Less procrastination, I feel like I procrastinated a lot on things, and it caused me a lot of unnecessary stress.

Who or what do you miss the most right now?

I miss my friends and my teachers.

What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

Go out to lunch with my friends.
