Kelsey Sodemann

Kelsey, please tell us about your current plans after high school. What inspired you to choose this path?

I am planning to go to UW-La Crosse and study something within the health and science field. I always knew I wanted to go to a four-year college and live on campus but was unsure where. When I toured La Crosse, I knew I wanted to call it my home for the next four years.

Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I live with my mom and my dad and older brother, Andrew (20), and my dog Cienna.

What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in Greendale?

I really like Panther Pub, they have really good food! You can never go wrong with ice cream from Ferch’s. I am also a sucker for Broad Street Coffee. I tend to get a lot of Chai Tea from there.

Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Greendale?

The most interesting person I have met in Greendale is probably my sign language teacher, Jennifer McCauley. Learning about her path to where she is today was super cool.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

I would travel back to Mexico and go somewhere warm where I can just relax on a beach and go back to everything being normal and not have to wear masks everywhere.

What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

I don’t really have a favorite movie. My favorite TV shows are either Outerbanks or Gossip Girl.

What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

I had a lot of things on my mind/going on in my life and I talked to my freshman math teacher and cross country coach, Brian DeSalvo, he told me, “no matter what is going on, keep your head up and do the right thing, always.”

What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

I don’t really listen to bands, but my favorite artist to go to is probably Jon Bellion. He just has so many different types of songs and they are all super good.

If you could choose anyone that is alive today, and not a relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where in Greendale would you meet for lunch?

My old babysitter Claire Regenfelder. We used to live right by each other until she went off to college and now lives with her boyfriend and it is always hard to coordinate schedules but we always make it work. I would go to Panther Pub because they have a variety of everything.

What is your favorite thing or something unique about our Greendale?

My favorite thing is the community feel. There is always a sense of home in Greendale that is different from anywhere else. Everybody knows everybody and there is such a kind tone throughout the city.

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

I am not sure at all.

What show are you binge watching right now?

Outerbanks

Favorite month? Holiday? And best single day on the calendar?

My favorite month is July. There is nothing to worry about in the world and it’s summer! Warm weather! My favorite holiday is Christmas. It is a time I get to see all of my family and spend time with people I don’t get to see a lot. The best single day on the calendar is my birthday March 27th.

Who inspires you to be better?

My mom inspires me. She is someone I have always looked up to and someone I can always go to for help.

If you could go back over your entire school career what is the one thing you would do different?

Get more involved. Join clubs.

Who or what do you miss the most right now?

I miss my friends!! like crazy! I also miss going to school and seeing my classmates and having a daily routine. I miss prom and my track season.
