Mason Kaddatz

Mason, please tell us about your current plans after high school. What inspired you to choose this path?

I am going to UW- Madison to study Material Science and Engineering. My aunt and uncle inspired me to study engineering from hearing their stories as engineers. Everything they’ve told me has interested me and I can’t wait to experience it for myself!

Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I have a younger sister Allie who is going to be a junior at Greendale. My mother Tamara works as a Logistics Coordinator at The Medical College of Wisconsin and my dad Kerry is a Commercial and Residential Electrician.

What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in Greendale?

My all-time favorite has to be Ferch’s. A lot of people go there but I think it’s a great family place to hang out and have a good time whenever I’m stressed or just bored.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

I would definitely travel to Spain or Mexico because I really want to use my Spanish skills that I’ve been developing since fifth grade.

What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

Whenever I don’t know what to listen to, Post Malone always has something I want to listen to. I never get tired of listening to his music.

What is your favorite thing or something unique about Greendale?

I think something unique about Greendale is that everywhere you turn, you see a familiar face or someone you know. Greendale is such a tight community and the togetherness of everyone amazes me every time.

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

In 5 to 10 years, I see myself settled into a steady job and traveling. I really want to travel and see more of the world, so I hope within 5 to 10 years this starts becoming a reality.

What show are you binge watching right now?

On Netflix, I just started watching Outer Banks and I already know I’m getting hooked.

Favorite month? Holiday? And best single day on the calendar?

My favorite month is any month in the summer. I love the feeling of summer and the freedom to hang out with friends and do whatever seems fun. My favorite holiday is for sure the 4th of July because I’m always doing something fun during it and I’ve never had a bad or boring 4th of July!

Who inspires you to be better?

My Dad always inspires me to strive for my best because I see him doing the same thing everyday. He always goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is happy and seeing that selflessness makes me want to be better.

If you could go back over your entire school career what is the one thing you would do different?

I would get involved a little more, even if it was outside of my comfort zone. I wish I would have tried some new sports or activities.

Who or what do you miss the most right now?

I miss hanging out and seeing my friends the most right now. Especially since we’re all going off to college soon, I wish I could be with them everyday and do some of the things we were planning before summer starts.

What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

Me and my friends and for sure going to meet up and go out to eat (if anything is open) for old time sake. That was probably our favorite thing to do before quarantine started!
