Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

It’s just my wife, Erica, and me. We have two dogs named Huckleberry and Pesci.

Q: Please tell us about your current career. What do you love most about what you do?
It’s Uncharted. I guess for lack of a better term, entrepreneurial. I really like collaborating with other businesses. I love barbecue, and I think it’s one of the conduits that really brings people together. My passion is collaborating the Barbecue Supply Company’s brand with other companies’ brands.

Q: Please tell us about any interesting or unique hobbies that you have?
I try to play golf as much as I can. I’m not good by any stretch, but whenever I have free time that’s usually what I try to do. That or be around bodies of water. I grew up as kind of a lake rat, so anytime I’m around water I’m in my happy place.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in Greendale? What do you love there?
I love Sugar & Flour. George and Karen do an excellent job. Dia y Noche is fantastic and Ricardo’s is a staple. They’re all great.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Greendale?
We opened April 9th of 2021, so almost 5 months now.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Greendale?
I know this is going to sound like a cop out answer, but every person I’ve met in Greendale has been interesting to me. Without exception.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Probably Key West because it’s a perfect blend of exciting and relaxing.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I really like the movie “Warrior”, which is kind of a modern day “Rocky.” It’s a great movie, great soundtrack, and I love the people who are in it. As for TV shows, take your pick of some of the big ones – “Breaking Bad,” “Mad Men,” “The Office.” Any of them that are pretty popular I usually get into.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Don’t take my advice.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
The Great American Loop, which is traveling by boat through the Great Lakes down the Mississippi all the way down to Florida, then up the east coast, traveling the US/Canadian border through the waterways, all the way back to Milwaukee. I think that would be awesome. There are more people that have reached the summit of Mt. Everest than have done the Great American Loop.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Dirty Heads. I’ve been getting into the southern Cali surfer reggae.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Greendale?
Ferch’s is the first one that comes to mind. The second, but not necessarily a business, is the Fourth of July parade. There’s something about it that just makes me want to come here.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?
My wife. Panther Pub on the patio, otherwise the Explorium.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Greendale?
I think it’s the flowers. The flowers at the south end of Broad Street looking north at the city hall. I don’t think you can recreate that. It’s something really special. It makes me really proud of this community.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Hopefully retired! But I don’t think that’s going to be the case. I have a way to go yet. I hope we open more locations of Barbecue Supply Company in Madison and in Green Bay.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
They’d probably be surprised that I have Emmy Awards for videography. For the last 20 years I’ve worked in video production as a videographer. I’ve done television series like Discover Wisconsin, Into the Outdoors, Health Corner which was on the Lifetime network and a bunch of commercial work. The last 5 years I worked doing corporate videos for companies like Harley-Davidson, Northwestern Mutual and Kerry in Beloit. I’ve gotten to travel a lot! Videography of a all sorts of neat stuff from polar bears in northern Canada to laboratories in Ireland. It’s been a crazy life but I’m getting older and wanted to slow my life down a bit. That’s why we started Barbeque Supply Company.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Yosemite.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
April is nice because you’re coming off winter and stuff is starting to come back to life. You’re hopeful for the summer months. Favorite holiday is the Fourth of July, and it goes hand in hand with grilling and camaraderie. When is it ever a better combination of nice weather, grilling, and drinking with friends?

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
The Big Frig tumbles sold at Barbecue Supply Company. How many times do you buy something and it actually does exactly what is advertised? It’s such a rarity, but these do. 10 out of 10

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My wife. I know it sounds like I’m just saying that to make her happy, but it really is the point of your partner. They try to make you better without making you upset or ashamed of who you are. When you find that person, marry them.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Barbecue. That’s easy.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Smiles, laughter, and Wisconsin in general. The state itself is really unique compared to other states and nowhere else feels like home the way Wisconsin does.
